Ryoko Akama is an electronic / acoustic music producer, video maker and singer.
Between 1995 and 2004 she lived and worked in Europe graduating from Sound Engineering college there. Intrigued by sounds she worked as a sound engineer at Mark Angelo recording studio for 2 years. This allowed her to have access to all the electronic devices and equipments that lead to start of her creating dance music, electronica, the moved into contemporary sound arts and electronic acoustic music.
From 2000, her label Melange Records began achieving releases for her as well as other artists.

Her involvement with sound and visuals has taken her to Europe, Japan, America and into collaborations with the likes of Eliane Radigue, Kaffe Mattews, AGF, Tony Conrad and many others.

Ryoko returned home to Japan in 2005, taking up an apprenticeship with Nagauta (traditional Japanese music for Kabuki, Geisha). Her solo works were published in the past under the name of Ryo Co. and Ryoko Kuwajima. After her marriage, she currently works as Ryoko Akama, collaborating as Sumeru, The Lappetites, K&P and Syth.

Law & Auder commissioned her to write this piece 'Happy Chicken' when we met her back in 1999.
