Pia Gambardella is one half of Brown Sierra a collaboration with Paddy Collins, "the hoodlum scientists who create music using arcane pieces of laboratory test equipment and self soldered circuits."

The group has developed through many stages, originally performing as Musica Scroc, performing using electronics, self built instruments, door bells, car horns, sound sculptures, Super8 film, video and slide projections, on occasion they were Musica Scott, when Scott Hawkins joined, they also become Blue Skoda, and Red Lada for a short time.
Brown Sierra are a performing duo whose work remains resolutely analogue in every scene.

Pia and Paddy are also responsible for "Noisegate" a magazine that looks into all aspects of sound.
